Global Autobody- not recommended

Postby MrMazda » Wed Sep 18, 2013 8:46 pm

Sirion is back after spending another week @ Global to fix previous problems. We are really disappointed in the quality of the repairs & a few other issues.

1. I always wondered about the number of cars standing around that place (next to KAR) with black pen markings all over them. Turns out they're all "come backs".

2. The left fender doesn't fit flush with the door - stands out by +-4 mm.

3. Front bumper / grille was skew. Now sort of fixed after the assessor spend a day with them to get it aligned. Rough paint patches around bonnet & fender edges.

4 Colour mismatch

5 It arrived there on a roll back with +3/4 tank fuel we got it back almost empty. 1st they disputed our accusation, but being a bean counter, me, I, keep accurate fuel consumption & expense records on all my vehicles. The car had done exactly 154 km since the last fill up until the accident. Now their story is, they siphon out some fuel to eliminate the fire risks with so many vehicles stacked together.
Obviously they don;t know that the fire hazard is far greater with almost empty tanks than with full tanks, since fuel vapour ignites far easier than the actual fuel. When are we going to be reimbursed for +- 3/4 tank?

6 The tool kit & red triangle have miraculously disappeared into thin air, while the car was there.

The car was there in total for +- a month. 1st week the assessors debated on repairing it or WO. Then it took them 8 working days to source the parts (before the strikes).

Guess who is being removed from the approval list?

I wanted to insist they take it to Cranborne in Benoni, but these guys were on the A list at the insurers.

The car went back there twice & is still not fixed. Global was removed from Ad-Ultimum's approved repairer list today.

At least they've now been removed from the list. They're next to KAR performance & when @ dyno days I always wondered about the number of cars with cocy pen marks = all come backs!

They won Autobody repairer award for Gauteng South in 2009 & 2010 & seems it gone to their heads. The owner is the most arrogant tool I dealt with in a long time, but I wasn't his problem. My wife gave him far more crap than me. Even shown us his award certificates, so wiffey told him just a pity your quality went way south since then.

Car went to Senior PB in Pta to fix some of Global's bugger ups. They resprayed the clear cote & paint now looks much better. The bumper still doesn't fit properly due to Global using the old bend bumper sliders / brackets. Senior says they can fix it for R7500 as they need to dismantle 1/2 the front end again!

Des to fix this car properly, the bumper, radiator & cradle & lights must come out. then new brackets fitted & some further panel straitening where one bracket fits, some respray on removed parts. Almost redoing the job, bar for the price of replacement parts.
